Refractions...

“Refractions of Bob Dylan” opened on Thursday, May 19 in the early afternoon. After warm words of welcome by Glen Guimond, cultural attachée of the US Embassy, Vice Dean Nikolaus Ritt entertained the audience with comparisons between Schubert and Dylan.
Conference organiser Dr. Eugen Banauch commented on and illustrated the specific agendas of the conference: “Rather than directly looking at Dylan, we look sideways: at how Dylan has been used, interpreted, or appropriated by others, within a divergent cultural and regional space.”
Directly afterwards he introduced Michael Gray, prominent keynote lecturer, who delivered his introductory lecture “How did Bob Dylan’s version of Americanness impact 1960s’ British culture?”
